unbelievably delicious
We’re finally going about this the right way!
Malaysians love nothing more than good food. We spend hours, days, or even months in our quest for the best assam laksa, nasi lemak, murtabak, or what-have-you. We criticise everything and anything if it isn’t up to par. We have whole conversations about nothing else but food. We passionately argue over which is the best char kuey teow stall. We unanimously agree that Singapore serves up some of the most atrocious local food (^^).
It follows naturally, then, that food — glorious food! — should be Malaysia’s selling point. The government has just announced it, and we have nothing more to say than, “ya lah! so obvious, why never say earlier!” It is so long delayed that, in fact, our neighbour beat us to it (much to our horror).
But we are thrilled — thrilled, I say — to see Malaysian cuisine so well appreciated as in this NY Times article. It makes my heart swell with pride and joy. All this also makes me so impossibly homesick I could fly home right now. And so, I present you, my dear reader, with a “poem” (of sorts. hahaha) expressing my gastronomic pining.
oh, yong tau foo, how I have missed you.
cendol – oh yum – I need some now.
my tummy demands some assam laksa,
and what I would give for some char kuey teow!
The end.

Hello world!
For now, it’s not anything, but this will soon be my food blog — where I keep track of what I’ve made (successfully or not), a few recipes, and perhaps some reviews.
I still need to iron out a few issues, but there may be something up soon.
Check back in a bit!
